Um den perfekten Paarlauf zu zelebrieren, bauten sie kurzerhand einen zweiten Rothmans-Escort auf. Sollten Sie auf den Demonstrationsstrecken also zwei dieser Escort quer an sich vorbeifliegen sehen, ist dies keine Halluzination, sondern lediglich die Familie Stacy beim Freizeitspaß.
Gestern: Ari Vatanen/David Richards, Weltmeisterschaft 1981
Im Jahre 1981 gewannen Ari Vatanen und David Richards die Fahrer-Weltmeisterschaft mit einem Rothmans-Escort des Teams von David Sutton. Das Erstaunliche daran: Vatanen gewann den Titel als Privatfahrer gegen die Werksteams von Audi, Datsun und Talbot.

The Stacey family didn’t have enough with one Ford Escort – after all, there was also son Mike alongside father Gerard. To celebrate the perfect pairing, they quickly built a second Rothmans Escort. So, if you see two of these Escorts flying past you sideways on the demonstration tracks, it’s not a hallucination, just the Stacy family having some fun.
Yesterday: Ari Vatanen/David Richards, World Rally Championship 1981
In 1981, Ari Vatanen and David Richards won the World Rally Championship for Drivers in a Rothmans-sponsored Escort which at that time was prepared and run by David Sutton’s team. The remarkable thing about Vatanen’s title was that we won the championship as a privateer again the full works teams of Audi, Datsun and Talbot.

La famille Stacey n’avait pas assez d’une seule Ford Escort – après tout, il y avait aussi le fils Mike aux côtés du père Gerard. Pour célébrer ce duo parfait, ils ont rapidement construit une deuxième Rothmans Escort. Ainsi, si vous voyez deux de ces Escort vous dépasser en dérapant sur les pistes de démonstration, ce n’est pas une hallucination, mais simplement la famille Stacy qui s’amuse.

En 1981, Ari Vatanen et David Richards ont remporté le titre Pilotes du Championnat du Monde des Rallyes avec une Escort aux couleurs de Rothmans, préparée à l’époque par le team de David Sutton. Fait exceptionnel, Vatanen a remporté le championnat en étant un pilote privé, face à toutes les équipes d’usine telles que Audi, Datsun et Talbot.
