Mitsubishis Beitrag zur Gruppe A war vor der ganzen Familie der Allrad-Lancer der Starion Turbo. Er hatte reichlich Kraft durch den Turbolader allerdings auch nur Heckantrieb. Das Werksteam fuhr im Jahre 1987 die Oman, Jordanien, Kuwait und Qatar Rallye, aber auch die 1000 Seen. Dort schied Lasse Lampi aber schon früh mit einem Schaden am Turbolader aus. Im Jahre 1988 fuhr Pentti Airikkala mit einem Starion ausgesucht Rallies in England.
John besitzt diesen Starion schon seit 2011 und baute eine Kopie des Werkswagens aus einem Serienfahrzeug. Das Original steht bei einem Freund von John in England und wird nicht mehr gefahren, umso mehr ein Grund diese Kopie ans Laufen zu bringen. John gefiel von allem an dem Starion die Form und auch die Tatsache dass er bei historischen Veranstaltungen sehr selten ist.
Mitsubishis Group A car before all the generations of Lancers was the Starion Turbo. It was quite powerful through its turbo but had only rear wheel drive and thus a little lack of traction for all that power. The works team drove in 1987 mainly in the Middle East like in Oman, Jordan, Kuwait and Qatar but also the 1000 Lakes Rally in Finland. There Lasse Lampi had to retire quite early in the event through a broken turbocharger. In 1988 Pentti Airikkala drove some selected events in Great Britain with it.
John owns this Starion since 2011 and built an identical copy of the works car from a road car. As the original car is in England today in a collection of a friend and will not be driven in anger any more, it was only logical to build a copy of it and he had all the possibilities it made it as identical as possible. John specialy likes the shape of the Starion and that it is so rare to see today.

Chez Mitsubishi, en Groupe A, avant toutes les générations de Lancers, il y eut la Starion Turbo. C’était une voiture assez puissante à cause de son turbo, mais qui n’avait que les roues arrière motrices et donc peu de motricité pour passer toute cette puissance. L’équipe d’usine l’a engagé en 1987 principalement au Moyen-Orient comme à Oman, en Jordanie, au Koweït et au Qatar, mais aussi au Rallye des 1000 lacs en Finlande. Sur ce rallye, Lasse Lampi a dû abandonner assez tôt à cause d’un turbo cassé. En 1988, Pentti Airikkala l’a pilotée sur certains événements sélectionnés en Grande-Bretagne.
John possède cette Starion depuis 2011 et a construit une copie identique à la voiture d’usine à partir d’une voiture de route. Comme la voiture d’origine est en Angleterre aujourd’hui dans la collection d’un ami et ne sera plus utilisée pour des rallyes, il était logique de construire une copie de celle-ci et il en avait la possibilité. Il l’a rendu aussi identique que possible. John aime spécialement la forme de la Starion qu’il est si rare de voir aujourd’hui.
